On 7 November 2025, Lina Kushch, First Secretary of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, took part in the online seminar “Hate Speech as a Risk Factor: Definition, Identification, Criteria, and Consequences,” organized by the Commission on Journalistic Ethics.

During the seminar, participants discussed, among other things, the appropriateness of using emotionally charged language in media coverage of the war, including terminology referring to Russians and the Russian army, as well as crimes committed by Russian military personnel in Ukraine.
Following the seminar, a post appeared on the social network X on the account @LesyaUA7Evropa, stating:

“The Commission on Journalistic Ethics recommends that Ukrainian media stop using the words ‘orcs’ and ‘rusnia,’ — Lina Kushch, First Secretary of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine

Similar posts also appeared on the X accounts @ko_did18249 and @volodarskijo.

These posts, as well as the comments under them, contain indicators of technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV), namely hate speech, gendered disinformation, and online defamation. The fact that posts of a similar nature appeared almost simultaneously may indicate a coordinated attack.
