Tetiana Nikolenko - attack 02.09.2026

On September 1, 2026, Tetiana Nikolenko, a journalist with Censor.NET, commented on her Facebook page on the news that former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov had launched a company in the defense technology sector, with Alex Karp, CEO of the U.S. technology company Palantir, becoming its first lead investor. The post became the basis for a publication on the Censor.NET website titled “Fedorov’s move to cooperate with Palantir violates the principles of integrity, — journalist Nikolenko,” which the outlet also shared on its X account.

The post received comments containing indicators of online attacks against journalist Tetiana Nikolenko, including:

• “Journalist Nikolenko, better stop spreading provocations and lies!”
• “‘principles of integrity’…”
• “hahahaha what a stupid slut”
• “‘Journalist’ 🤡”
• “F***, did some [vulgar sexual insult] or some pro-Russian [vulgar insult] open her mouth?”

In this case, several indicators of technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) can be identified: gender-marked and sexualized insults aimed not at reasoned criticism of Tetiana Nikolenko’s position but at humiliating her through vulgar and sexualized language. There are also elements of sexualized humiliation and objectification, while accusations that she is spreading lies constitute professional discrediting. Taken together, these comments create a hostile online environment and may negatively affect the journalist’s professional reputation and psychological well-being.
