FacebookOn August 18, 2025, a post targeting Sevgil Musaieva, editor-in-chief of Ukrainska Pravda, and her partner, political scientist Mykola Davydiuk, appeared on the Facebook page of user Oleksii Heorhiiovych Liashenko.
The post:
“Two very unpleasant individuals who are cohabiting. Sevgil Musaieva, editor-in-chief of Ukrainska Pravda, who has practically declared war on the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. She received orders from her master, oligarch Fiala, as well as from Ukraine’s disgrace Poroshenko, and now UP systematically spreads lies, manipulation, and humiliation of our military and political leadership, and as a result, of our Armed Forces of Defense — a thinly veiled selling out of Ukraine. She has also disgraced the entire Crimean Tatar people by effectively taking Moscow’s side.”

Meanwhile, Mykola Davydiuk is described as “Musaieva’s kept man” and accused of working for the Kremlin. The post was illustrated with a photograph of Musaieva and Davydiuk together.
Thus, the post contains elements of gendered disinformation as well as online defamation — an attempt to spread false or unsubstantiated claims, such as accusations of corruption, with the goal of discrediting and damaging reputations.

The comments featured numerous examples of misogyny, sexism, and hate speech directed at both Sevgil Musaieva and Mykola Davydiuk. They were repeatedly accused of being “sellouts” or working in the interests of others — such as former president Petro Poroshenko, or even the Kremlin. Some users, employing sexist rhetoric, shifted the discussion to Musaieva’s appearance and body.
This is not the first such attack against Sevgil Musaieva.
Women in Media had previously documented similar cases in which the editor-in-chief of Ukrainska Pravda and her partner were accused of alleged “corruption” or working in someone else’s interests. Such a pattern suggests a coordinated discreditation campaign against the journalist.
