Anastasiia Fedchenko - attack 12.04.2025

On April 12, 2025, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy published a post on Facebook about the death of F-16 pilot Pavlo Ivanov, referring to him as a “26-year-old guy.” Anastasiia Fedchenko, a journalist for Novynarnia, commented on this post: “He is not a guy, he is an officer and a warrior.” She also published a separate post on her own page, calling the president’s words “disrespectfully casual.”

That same day, the media outlet Bukvy published a news item titled: “Journalist and war widow criticizes Zelenskyy’s reaction to death of F-16 pilot,” and shared it on its X. Yaskrave Slovo media reposted the news calling the journalist “sellout scum.” Numerous comments followed on these posts, targeting Fedchenko with hate speech and sexist abuse, for example:

“She’s an idiot, not a journalist,” “stupid cunt,” “journalist whore,” “fucking psycho woman,” “a piece of trash,” “animal,” “stupid hen,” “look at her fucking face! All puffed up,” “a whore from the highway,” and so on.
