On January 27, 2025, a post appeared on the X account @WorldResident7 with the following content:
“A grant-eater has panicked because for the next 3 months she won’t be receiving 500,000 UAH in net income. 500,000 UAH for just 1 employee (herself).”

The post also included a link to the profile of journalist and communications expert Mariia Kravchenko. From the context, it is clear that it referred to her reaction to the suspension of operations of the American agency USAID, which, among other things, funded media projects in Ukraine.

It should be recalled that on January 20, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order to freeze foreign aid for 90 days for an audit, and later announced the closure of USAID programs.

In the comments under the post, online attacks against the journalist were recorded, including signs of gendered disinformation and online defamation. These included expressions such as “grant-eater,” “Soros crowd,” “piece of trash,” “whore,” and others.

Such statements are part of a widespread disinformation narrative that reduces the complex issue of international aid to a simplified and stigmatized notion of “dependence on external funding.” This framing seeks to portray the journalist not as an independent professional, but as a supposedly biased actor serving the interests of “external forces.” The additional use of offensive and sexualized labels aims not only to discredit her professionally but also to humiliate her as a woman, which is a typical feature of gender-based online attacks.
