Inna Vedernikova - attack 23.08.2026

On August 23, 2026, a post mentioning Inna Vedernikova, a journalist at ZN.UA (Dzerkalo Tyzhnia), appeared on the X account @InfoSich_. The post stated:

“‼️Zelenskyy understands that he will not win the election, so he does not need elections. Therefore, the longer the war lasts, the longer he will remain in power, says ZN journalist Vedernikova. F***, journalists have finally seen the light…”

The following comments were recorded under the post:

• “Every journalistic article is paid-for bullshit.”
• “They have not seen the light. It is simply that the person paying the money has started telling them to write in a different style and about different things.”
• “They have become bolder. The regime under Kim Jong Ze is collapsing.
• “So, soon this journalist will probably be found somewhere in a forest, dead.”

The signs of technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) in this case primarily relate to the gendered nature of some of the attacks and threats directed at the woman journalist, as well as the use of the online space to intimidate her and potentially restrict her professional activity. The most dangerous manifestation is the comment threatening physical violence against Inna Vedernikova. Such a statement may have an intimidating effect and may be intended to punish the journalist for expressing her views or pressure her into refraining from further public statements.

At the same time, the comments under the post seek to discredit the journalist’s professional work through generalized accusations that she is corrupt or dependent on those “who pay the money.” Although not all of these statements are explicitly gendered, taken together with the direct threat, they form a hostile online attack against a woman media professional.
