On 31 July 2026, a post appeared on the X account “Мені не подобається” (@gerunda4) with the caption: “Biletsky and Laura Palmer — am I the only one who thinks this has gone too far?” The post was accompanied by a photograph showing serviceman Andriy Biletsky and his wife, Ukrainska Pravda journalist Tetiana Danylenko.

The caption is built around a play on words. Laura Palmer is a character from the well-known television series Twin Peaks. Her name sounds similar to that of American blogger Laura Loomer, who recently visited Ukraine. It is known that Andriy Biletsky gave her an interview. The author of the post likely intended not only to make a pun but also to draw on the visual similarity between Laura Loomer and Tetiana Danylenko, which could mislead readers.

Comments under the post contained sexualized insinuations about Biletsky and the woman in the photograph, for example: “I wonder whether he f**ked her.” They also included insinuations about Tetiana Danylenko’s past personal life.

This case demonstrates signs of technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV), primarily in the forms of sexualized online harassment, gender disinformation, reputational attack, and intrusion into the journalist’s private life. The original post relies on a manipulative wordplay and visual associations between Tetiana Danylenko and American blogger Laura Loomer, which may mislead audiences and create false assumptions about the journalist’s personal connections. Such framing constitutes a form of gender disinformation because it shifts attention away from the journalist’s professional activity toward her appearance and private life.

In addition, the comments contain sexualized insinuations about the woman in the photograph and speculation about her personal relationships, which are typical forms of TFGBV. These remarks are aimed not at discussing Tetiana Danylenko’s journalistic work but at humiliating her through gendered associations, sexualization, and public scrutiny of her private sphere. Taken together, such actions create a hostile online environment, increase psychological pressure, and may damage the journalist’s professional reputation.
