On May 9, 2026, the TikTok account jobfinder2026 published a video titled “New Payment — Important!”, featuring an AI-generated likeness of 1+1 television presenter Alla Mazur.

The video was distributed through an account associated with the “Helping Hand” branding, which has more than 12.2 thousand followers. At the time of documentation, the video had received at least 988 likes, 16 comments, 135 saves, and 75 shares.

The video uses a person who resembles Alla Mazur in both appearance and voice. It is styled as a news report, with the presenter addressing viewers directly and announcing an alleged new payment. On-screen text states: “Payments will be delivered in May together with other benefits.”

To increase its reach, the creators used the hashtags #help, #payments, #important, #news, and #Ukraine.

At the same time, the video includes TikTok’s automatic label, “Contains AI-generated media,” indicating that artificial intelligence technologies were used in its creation. The video also features a CapCut watermark, suggesting that the application was used during the editing process.

Despite the presence of AI disclosure labels, the use of a well-known journalist’s likeness to disseminate information about social payments may create the impression that she is the source of the message or endorses the information being shared. The recognizability of a media personality can increase audience trust in the content and influence how it is perceived.

This case illustrates one of the emerging risks associated with the development of generative artificial intelligence: the use of journalists’ likenesses without their consent to create and distribute content on socially significant issues. Even when AI-generated content is labeled, such videos may mislead audiences about the true source of the information and undermine trust in the media.

The case also reflects a trend identified in the UNESCO and Women in Media study, When AI Turns Hostile: Gendered Threats Against Ukrainian Women Journalists, which found that artificial intelligence technologies are increasingly being used to reproduce the likenesses of women journalists without their consent or control over such use.
