Women in Media NGO is holding an online self-support group for women journalists. The next meeting will take place on 26 February 2026 and will focus on transitioning from a challenging winter period into spring.
The winter has been difficult for many of us, and it is finally coming to an end. During the meeting, participants will have the opportunity to reflect together on their experiences, recall what helped them maintain inner resilience during challenging times, and outline their personal resources and plans for moving forward.
Meeting topic: “How to Shift from a Difficult Winter to Spring”.
Date and time: 26 February 2026 (Thursday), 18:00–20:30, format: online.
The session will be facilitated by professional psychotherapist Maria Fabrycheva. Participants will be able to share their experiences or join the conversation in a format that feels comfortable to them — whether by listening, asking questions, or receiving feedback from the psychotherapist (upon request).
To ensure a safe and supportive environment, the group follows clearly defined rules and agreements. Everything shared during the meeting remains confidential. The group space is safe and free from judgment.
The self-support group for women journalists is designed as a dedicated space specifically for women. In the media sector, women frequently face gender-specific challenges — including online violence, sexism, smear campaigns, unequal workloads, and the burden of combining professional and caregiving roles. Many of these experiences require a setting where participants can openly discuss vulnerability without needing to explain or justify their context.
More information about the format of the self-support groups, as well as how they differ from therapeutic groups, is available on the organization’s website. Participant feedback and a detailed description of the format can be found in the materials “Self-Care: How Self-Support Groups for Media Professionals Work and Why They Matter for the Community” and “A breath of fresh air: Women in Media continues hosting peer support groups for women journalists — participant reviews”.
To participate, please complete a short registration form.
The self-support group is organized by Women in Media NGO within the framework of the “Voices of Ukraine” project, which is part of the SAFE programme coordinated by the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF). “Voices of Ukraine” is implemented within the Hannah Arendt Initiative.
