On Monday, 1 December 2025, the results of the annual study “Gender Profile of Ukrainian Media – 2025” will be presented. The study has been conducted for the third consecutive year by the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine in cooperation with the NGO Women in Media.
The research is part of the regulator’s systemic efforts to integrate the principles of equal rights and opportunities into the work of Ukrainian newsrooms. In 2025, the monitoring became possible thanks to the financial support of the Council of Europe project “Safeguarding Freedom of Expression and Freedom of Media in Ukraine – Phase II (SFEM-UA)”, implemented within the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction” (2023–2026).
Despite Russia’s ongoing aggression — which continues to affect staffing, finances and newsroom safety — this year the research team collected 245 questionnaires from media outlets employing 7,184 staff members. The collected data makes it possible to assess trends in gender equality, management practices, social responsibility, and media readiness to implement internal equality policies.
