In total, 100 materials were submitted for the special nomination this year from representatives of both national and regional media: podcasts, written materials, and videos.
The works in the special nomination “Best Material on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality in Media” were evaluated by a jury consisting of: Liza Kuzmenko, Head of the NGO “Women in Media”; Victoria Yermolaeva, Editor-in-Chief of Hromadske Radio; Irina Andreitsiv, Editor of the “Health” department at LB.ua; Oleksandra Horchynska, journalist for NV and Andrii Kulykov, Chair of the Commission on Journalistic Ethics.
The finalists for the Honor of Profession Award-2024 competition are as follows:
- Olena Kryvenko and Anastasiia Hudyma, “Illusion of Equality: Stories of Struggle for Equal Rights,” a documentary project, Suspilne.
- Natalia Mazina, “Mothers on the Frontline: Either I Fight or My Child Does,” Hromadske.
- Iryna Trebunskykh, “Not ‘Helping Mom,’ but Responsible Father: What Engaged Parenthood Is and Why It Matters,” Grechka informational portal (Kropyvnytskyi).
- Lutfiye Zudiyeva and Anna Kravets, podcast “Defender. Imayeci,” material “Urgent Need for Justice,” Graty.
- Anastasiia Poya, “Beautiful Woman, Slap Her on the Butt: What to Do in Case of Sexual Harassment in the Military,” Ukrainska Pravda
The award ceremony for the winners of the Honor of Profession Award-2024 will take place in Kyiv on May 30, 2024.
For the third consecutive year, “Women in Media” has initiated the special nomination “Best Material on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality in Media” at the Honor of Profession Award. In the first year of this nomination, Maria Semenchenko from Reporters won with the material “A Man Said I Beat Myself.” In 2023, the winner was Olesia Bida for her material for Hromadske titled “From GULAG to the Colony in Olenivka: Women in Russian Prisons.”
