Gender Profile Of Ukrainian Media

Under the Law of Ukraine “On Media,” one of the priority vectors of the National Council on
Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine (the media regulator) is ensuring gender equality
in the media and protecting citizens of Ukraine against potential forms of discrimination,
including gender-based discrimination.

In connection with this, for the second time, the National Council and Women in Media NGO
have carried out the now-annual analysis and drawn up the gender profile of the Ukrainian
media. The 2023 findings are available here.

In 2024, the study covers a broader media field, as the survey included not only audiovisual
media (television, radio, and media licensed for television and radio broadcasting), but also print
and online media registered in Ukraine. 492 responses from the media were collected, with a total of 8900 employees. This is about double the numbers of the 2023 study.

An abridged version of the English translation has been published, excluding Section 4.
