Inna Tsaruk - attack 03.07.2026

July 3, 2026, the Telegram channel News of Truth: Myr Oleshko published four posts featuring excerpts from a video originally posted by journalist and radio host Inna Tsaruk. In the video, the journalist addressed opponents of mobilization, emphasizing that Ukraine’s air defense forces, which protect the country’s skies, are also a branch of the military. She stated that “it is very convenient to be protected by the military while criticizing the mobilization process.”

The first post was captioned: “Radio M host, author of the book The Rabbi’s Daughter, blogger with the description ‘Jewish world and kosher lifestyle here,’ motivational speaker, and journalist Inna Tsaruk.”

The Telegram channel is run by blogger Myroslav Oleshko, whom the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has charged in absentia with illegally crossing Ukraine’s state border during martial law. Through his online platforms, he regularly disseminates anti-mobilization narratives.

In subsequent posts, the blogger accompanied the journalist’s video with insults, manipulative claims, and personal attacks. In one post, Inna Tsaruk was called a “hypocritical whore”; another cited a passage from the Gospel of Matthew to imply that the journalist was hypocritical. A separate post referred to the death of Tsaruk’s brother and used this personal tragedy to discredit her public position.

The comments under these posts contain signs of sexism, gendered disinformation, misogynistic hate speech, and antisemitic abuse, including, for example:

• “Modern women — most of them are like this. Everyone owes them everything while she just exists 🤷””
• I have a question: how do having two breasts and a hole prevent her from volunteering for the air defense forces?
• “Such a boring response from a typical pro-government slut.”
• “The Jewish woman is telling everyone what they should do 🤣 Here’s a counter-question: why doesn’t she volunteer for the Armed Forces herself, for example in Skelya as an assault soldier? And why aren’t Jews living in Ukraine being forcibly mobilized? They make up a significant part of the population. Doesn’t seem very kosher!”

The comments also included direct threats of violence and physical assault, for example:

• “The only thing she motivates me to do is smash her nose.”
• “I hope they grab you off the street, rape every hole you’ve got, and dump you in Skelya. Then we’d listen to you 😂.”

In addition to public attacks, Inna Tsaruk also received threatening private messages. The names of the accounts that sent them, such as “Syr Tofu” (“Tofu Cheese”) and “Zhoryk Obzhoryk”, may indicate that they were bot accounts. According to screenshots provided by the journalist to Women in Media, the messages urged her to go “to the front line,” advised her to “take the children with you,” warned her to “watch your back,” “keep a low profile,” and threatened to break her nose.

“I run a Jewish blog, and I am a Ukrainian Jew. Quite often, these threats merge into one big stream and usually end with antisemitic threats. It is also an attempt to discredit me as a media professional, even though I am a qualified journalist with formal education and have worked in journalism since 2015,” Inna Tsaruk told Women in Media.

This case demonstrates clear indicators of technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV), combining gendered disinformation, online defamation, misogynistic hate speech, sexist abuse, antisemitic harassment, and threats of physical and sexual violence. The posts seek not only to undermine Inna Tsaruk’s professional credibility but also to shift attention to her gender, private life, family tragedy, and religious identity. Misogynistic and antisemitic slurs are used to reinforce hostile narratives and further stigmatize the journalist.

The direct calls for physical and sexual violence, together with degrading comments that normalize aggression against the journalist, represent particularly severe forms of online abuse. The exploitation of the death of her brother as a means of moral condemnation and emotional pressure is likewise consistent with common TFGBV tactics. Taken together, the coordinated defamatory posts, sexist and antisemitic abuse, and explicit threats create an atmosphere of intimidation that may have a chilling effect on the journalist’s professional work and her willingness to participate in public debate.
